Jim Sherman was a 1978 graduate of William Penn who excelled as a three-sport athlete in football, basketball and baseball.He was a member of the first official All-State baseball team in 1978 and played in the inaugural Blue Gold baseball all-star game.Following his days at William Penn he continued his excellence on the baseball field at Delaware.He then was drafted by the Houston Astros, reaching AAA status before bowing out of pro-ball due to injuries.Following his professional baseball career, he made a stop at Wilmington University, before returning to his alma matter. In his time at Delaware, Shermancoached many William Penn alumni and is one of two coaches to win 500 games for Delaware. This past season, Jim led the Blue Hens to the CAA Tournament crown, and an NCAA automatic berth.
